﴿فَلَمَّا قَضَيۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ مَا دَلَّهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَوۡتِهِۦٓ إِلَّا دَآبَّةُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ تَأۡكُلُ مِنسَأَتَهُۥۖ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَيَّنَتِ ٱلۡجِنُّ أَن لَّوۡ كَانُواْ يَعۡلَمُونَ ٱلۡغَيۡبَ مَا لَبِثُواْ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡمُهِينِ ﴾
[سَبإ: 14]
﴿فلما قضينا عليه الموت ما دلهم على موته إلا دابة الأرض تأكل﴾ [سَبإ: 14]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir But when We decreed death for him, naught showed them his death but a creature of the earth that ate away his staff; and when it fell down, the jinn came to know plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in abasing torment |
| Mohammad Shafi And when We decreed death on him (Solomon), nothing made them aware of his death but a creature of the earth that ate away the stick he was leaning on. So when he fell down, it made the jinn aware that, if they had knowledge of the unseen, they would not have continued to suffer in humiliation |

Then, as soon as he collapsed, the jinn evidently (saw) that; if they had known the Unseen, in no way would they have lingered in the degrading torment |
