﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَكُمۡ وَإِخۡوَٰنَكُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءَ إِنِ ٱسۡتَحَبُّواْ ٱلۡكُفۡرَ عَلَى ٱلۡإِيمَٰنِۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمۡ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ﴾
[التوبَة: 23]
﴿ياأيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا آباءكم وإخوانكم أولياء إن استحبوا الكفر على﴾ [التوبَة: 23]
| Abdel Haleem Believers, do not take your fathers and brothers as allies if they prefer disbelief to faith: those of you who do so are doing wrong |
| Abdul Hye O you who believe! Don’t take your fathers and your brothers as protectors if they prefer disbelief to belief. Whoever of you takes them, those will be the wrongdoers |
| Abdullah Yusuf Ali O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong |
| Abdul Majid Daryabadi O Ye who believe! take not your fathers and your brothers for friends if they love infidelity above faith. Whosoever of you then befriendeth them then those! they are the wrong-doers |
| Ahmed Ali O you who believe, do not hold your fathers and brothers as friends if they hold disbelief more dear than faith; and those of you who do so are iniquitous |
| Aisha Bewley You who have iman, do not befriend your fathers and brothers if they prefer kufr to iman. Those among you who do befriend them are wrongdoers |

| Ali Quli Qarai O you who have faith! Do not befriend your fathers and brothers if they prefer faithlessness to faith. Those of you who befriend them —it is they who are the wrongdoers |
