﴿تِلۡكَ أُمَّةٞ قَدۡ خَلَتۡۖ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتۡ وَلَكُم مَّا كَسَبۡتُمۡۖ وَلَا تُسۡـَٔلُونَ عَمَّا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ﴾
[البَقَرَة: 134]
﴿تلك أمة قد خلت لها ما كسبت ولكم ما كسبتم ولا تسألون﴾ [البَقَرَة: 134]
| Dr Kamal Omar This is the Ummah which has certainly passed away. For it (awaits) what it earned and for you (awaits) what you have earned. And you would not be questioned for what they had been doing |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar That was, surely, a community that passed away. For them is what they earned, and for you is what you earned and you will not be asked about what they had been doing |
| Dr Munir Munshey That generation has now passed. For them, is what they earned. Yours shall (only) be what you will earn. You will not be asked about what they used to do |
