﴿لَوۡ أَرَدۡنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهۡوٗا لَّٱتَّخَذۡنَٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّآ إِن كُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ ﴾
[الأنبيَاء: 17]
﴿لو أردنا أن نتخذ لهوا لاتخذناه من لدنا إن كنا فاعلين﴾ [الأنبيَاء: 17]
| Dr Kamal Omar Had We intended to find (a pasttime in) jest and sport, We would surely have found it in what is with Us if We happened to be (out of) those who do (such an act) |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar If We wanted We would have taken some diversion. We would take it to Ourselves from that which proceeds from Our Presence if We had been ones who do so |
| Dr Munir Munshey Had We wanted just to have fun, and if We were (given to) doing that, We would have done so all by Ourselves |
| Edward Henry Palmer Had we wished to take to a sport, we would have taken to one from before ourselves; had we been bent on doing so |
| Farook Malik Had We meant to make it a play ground, We would have done it by Ourself, without giving you discretion to do right and wrong, had We ever done so |
