Quran with British translation - Surah At-Taubah ayat 23 - التوبَة - Page - Juz 10
﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَكُمۡ وَإِخۡوَٰنَكُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءَ إِنِ ٱسۡتَحَبُّواْ ٱلۡكُفۡرَ عَلَى ٱلۡإِيمَٰنِۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمۡ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ﴾
[التوبَة: 23]
﴿ياأيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا آباءكم وإخوانكم أولياء إن استحبوا الكفر على﴾ [التوبَة: 23]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir O you who believe! do not take your fathers and your brothers for guardians if they love unbelief more than belief; and whoever of you takes them for a guardian, these it is that are the unjust |
| Mohammad Shafi O you who believe! Do not take your fathers and your brothers as awliya if they love suppression of the Truth more than faith in the Truth. And those of you who take them as awliya, those it is that do wrong |
| Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall O ye who believe! Choose not your fathers nor your brethren for friends if they take pleasure in disbelief rather than faith. Whoso of you taketh them for friends, such are wrong-doers |
| Mufti Taqi Usmani O you who believe, do not take your fathers and your brothers as your friends, if they prefer infidelity to Faith. Those of you who have friendship with them are the wrongdoers |
| Muhammad Asad O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not take your fathers and your brothers for allies if a denial of the truth is dearer to them than faith: for those of you who ally themselves with them-it is they, they who are evildoers |
| Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali O you who have believed, do not take to yourselves your fathers and your brethren to be (your) patrons, in case they show love to disbelief (rather) than belief. And whoever of you patronizes them, then, those are they (who) are the unjust |
| Muhammad Sarwar Believers, do not accept your fathers and brothers as your guardians if they prefer disbelief to faith, lest you be unjust |
| Muhammad Taqi Usmani O you who believe, do not take your fathers and your brothers as your friends, if they prefer infidelity to Faith. Those of you who have friendship with them are the wrongdoers |
| Mustafa Khattab Allah Edition O believers! Do not take your parents and siblings as trusted allies if they choose disbelief over belief. And whoever of you does so, they are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers |

| N J Dawood Believers, do not befriend your fathers or your brothers if they choose unbelief in preference to faith; wrongdoers are those of you that befriend them |
| Safi Kaskas Believers, do not take your fathers and brothers for allies if unbelief is dearer to them than faith; those of you who do so are unjust |
