﴿۞ وَمَآ أُبَرِّئُ نَفۡسِيٓۚ إِنَّ ٱلنَّفۡسَ لَأَمَّارَةُۢ بِٱلسُّوٓءِ إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّيٓۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ ﴾
[يُوسُف: 53]
﴿وما أبرئ نفسي إن النفس لأمارة بالسوء إلا ما رحم ربي إن﴾ [يُوسُف: 53]
Abdel Haleem I do not pretend to be blameless, for man’s very soul incites him to evil unless my Lord shows mercy: He is most forgiving, most merciful.’ |
Abdul Hye I can not free myself (from the blame). Surely, the (human) soul is inclined to evil, except when my Lord bestows His Mercy. Surely, my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.” |
Abdullah Yusuf Ali Nor do I absolve my own self (of blame): the (human) soul is certainly prone to evil, unless my Lord do bestow His Mercy: but surely my Lord is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful |
