﴿وَسَكَنتُمۡ فِي مَسَٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمۡ كَيۡفَ فَعَلۡنَا بِهِمۡ وَضَرَبۡنَا لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَ ﴾
[إبراهِيم: 45]
﴿وسكنتم في مساكن الذين ظلموا أنفسهم وتبين لكم كيف فعلنا بهم وضربنا﴾ [إبراهِيم: 45]
| Dr Kamal Omar And you (occupied and) stayed in the residential houses of those who wronged themselves and it has become plain to you how We dealt with them and We have brought forward for you many examples (of the destroyed nations) |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And you inhabited the dwellings of those who did wrong to themselves. And it became clear to you how We accomplished against them and We propounded for you parables |
| Dr Munir Munshey You inhabit the locality of those people (of the previous age) who had harmed their own selves. It should be amply clear to you how We dealt with them. We have cited you their examples |
| Edward Henry Palmer And ye dwelt in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves; and it was made plain to you how we did with them; and we struck out parables for you |
| Farook Malik When you lived among those people who had wronged their souls, it was explained to you how We dealt with them and We even described for you their examples |
| George Sale Yet ye dwelt in the dwellings of those who had treated their own souls unjustly; and it appeared plainly unto you how We had dealt with them; and We propounded their destruction as examples unto you |
| Maududi You said so even though you had lived in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves (by sinning), and you were aware how We dealt with them, and We had even explained to you all this by giving examples |
