Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah al-‘Imran ayat 146 - آل عِمران - Page - Juz 4

A good many of the Prophets fought against positive disbelief and with them fought countless numbers of devotees whose hearts had been touched with the divine hand. Never did they falter in consequence of the misfortunes they experienced in the cause of Allah, nor were they disheartened or dispirited, nor did they acknowledge themselves beaten. Allah likes the patient who are unwearied in the face of difficulties

﴿وكأين من نبي قاتل معه ربيون كثير فما وهنوا لما أصابهم في﴾ [آل عِمران: 146]

Dr Kamal Omar
And many a Prophet indulged in war; indulged in war with him (i.e., alongside the Prophet) numerous people devoted to the Nourisher-Sustainer. So they did not lose heart for that which did befall them in Allah’s Way. And they did not show weakness and did not show exhaustion. And Allah loves the perseverant
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
And how many a Prophet whom, along with him, many thousands fought, but none lost confidence with what lit on them in the way of God, nor were they weakened nor were they to give in. And God loves the ones who remain steadfast
Dr Munir Munshey
Many prophets fought (for the sake of Allah), and many devoted religious men (fought by their side) too. They did not lose heart because of the suffering they endured in the path of Allah. They did not weaken, and they did not (give up and) demean themselves. Allah loves those who persevere
Edward Henry Palmer
How many prophets have myriads fought against! yet they did not give way at what befel them in God's way Nor were they weak, nor did they demean themselves:- God loves the patient
Farook Malik
How many of the prophets fought (in Allah's way), and with them (fought) large bands of godly men? But they never lost heart if they met with disaster in Allah's way, nor did they weaken (in will) nor give in. And Allah Loves those who are firm and steadfast
George Sale
How many prophets have encountered those who had many myriads of troops: And yet they desponded not in their mind for what had befallen them in fighting for the religion of God; and were not weakened, neither behaved themselves in an abject manner? God loveth those who persevere patiently
Maududi
Many were the Prophets on whose side a large number of God-devoted men fought: they neither lost heart for all they had to suffer in the way of Allah nor did they weaken nor did they abase themselves. Allah loves such steadfast ones
