﴿وَكَأَيِّن مِّن نَّبِيّٖ قَٰتَلَ مَعَهُۥ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٞ فَمَا وَهَنُواْ لِمَآ أَصَابَهُمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا ضَعُفُواْ وَمَا ٱسۡتَكَانُواْۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ ﴾
[آل عِمران: 146]
﴿وكأين من نبي قاتل معه ربيون كثير فما وهنوا لما أصابهم في﴾ [آل عِمران: 146]
Dr Kamal Omar And many a Prophet indulged in war; indulged in war with him (i.e., alongside the Prophet) numerous people devoted to the Nourisher-Sustainer. So they did not lose heart for that which did befall them in Allah’s Way. And they did not show weakness and did not show exhaustion. And Allah loves the perseverant |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And how many a Prophet whom, along with him, many thousands fought, but none lost confidence with what lit on them in the way of God, nor were they weakened nor were they to give in. And God loves the ones who remain steadfast |

George Sale How many prophets have encountered those who had many myriads of troops: And yet they desponded not in their mind for what had befallen them in fighting for the religion of God; and were not weakened, neither behaved themselves in an abject manner? God loveth those who persevere patiently |
Maududi Many were the Prophets on whose side a large number of God-devoted men fought: they neither lost heart for all they had to suffer in the way of Allah nor did they weaken nor did they abase themselves. Allah loves such steadfast ones |
