﴿قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجۡعَل لِّيٓ ءَايَةٗۖ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَٰثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلَّا رَمۡزٗاۗ وَٱذۡكُر رَّبَّكَ كَثِيرٗا وَسَبِّحۡ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ وَٱلۡإِبۡكَٰرِ ﴾
[آل عِمران: 41]
﴿قال رب اجعل لي آية قال آيتك ألا تكلم الناس ثلاثة أيام﴾ [آل عِمران: 41]
| Dr Kamal Omar (Zakariyya) said: “My Nourisher-Sustainer! Specify a sign for me.” (Allah) said: “Your sign is that you shall not speak to men for three days except with signals. And remember and propagate your Nourisher-Sustainer exceedingly and glorify (Him in Prayers) in the evening and the morning.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar He said: My Lord! Assign a sign for me. He said: Thy sign is that thou wilt not speak to humanity for three days but by gesture and remember thy Lord frequently, and glorify in the evening and early morning |
| Dr Munir Munshey (Zakariah) said, "My Lord, appoint a (premonetary) sign for me." (Allah) said, "Your sign is that you will not (be able to) speak to people for three days, except by gestures. So, remember your Lord a lot (during that period), and glorify (your Lord) in the afternoons and in the mornings |

| George Sale Zacharias answered, Lord, give me a sign. The angel said, thy sign shall be, that thou shalt speak unto no man for three days, otherwise than by gesture: Remember thy Lord often, and praise him evening and morning |
| Maududi Zechariah said: ´O my Lord! Appoint a sign for me.´ The angel said: ´The sign for you shall be that you shall not speak to men for three days except by gesture. Remember your Lord and extol His glory by night and by day.´ |
