﴿وَأَنزَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَٰهَرُوهُم مِّنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمۡ وَقَذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعۡبَ فَرِيقٗا تَقۡتُلُونَ وَتَأۡسِرُونَ فَرِيقٗا ﴾
[الأحزَاب: 26]
﴿وأنـزل الذين ظاهروهم من أهل الكتاب من صياصيهم وقذف في قلوبهم الرعب﴾ [الأحزَاب: 26]
| Dr Kamal Omar And (Allah) brought down those from among Ahl-ul-Kitab who backed those (disbelievers), from their fortified places; and He cast in their hearts terror (about the forces of Islam), (so that) you may kill a portion (of them), and mop (another) group as prisoners of war |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And He caused to descend those who were behind among the People of the Book from their strongholds and He hurled alarm into their hearts so that you kill a group of people and make captives of another group of people |
| Dr Munir Munshey Allah brought the people of the scriptures _ those who were aiding and helping the enemy _ out of their forts. He struck terror in their hearts. That is how you killed some of them and captured others |
| Edward Henry Palmer And He drove down those of the people of the Book who had helped them from their fortresses and hurled dread into their hearts; a part ye slew and ye took captive a part |
| Farook Malik And brought down, from their fortresses, those people of the Book (The Jews of Bani Qurayzah) who supported the invaders, and cast terror into their hearts. As a result, some of them you slew and some you took as prisoners |

| Maududi Allah brought down from their fortresses those People of the Book who had supported the invading confederates and cast such terror into their hearts that some of them you kill and some of them you take captive |
