Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Fussilat ayat 44 - فُصِّلَت - Page - Juz 24
Dr Kamal Omar And if We had made it a Quran in a not fully comprehensive language (i.e., any language other than Arabic), people would have said: “Why not its Verses are armed with details? What! (A Book) not in Arabic, and (the Messenger) an Arab?” Say: “It is for those who have Believed — a Guide and a Healing. As for those who do not believe, there is a block in their ears. And it (i.e., the Quran) unto them is blindness, and they feel they are called from a very far away place”. [They are so ignorant and misinformed of the Quran that when its teachings are brought before them, their eyes get blind and their ears appear partially deaf] |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And if We made this a non-Arabic Recitation, they would have said: Why were His signs not explained distinctly: A non-Arab tongue and an Arab! Say: It is a guidance for those who believe and a healing. And as for those who believed not, there is a heaviness in their ears and blindness in their hearts. Those are given notice from a far place |
Dr Munir Munshey Had We revealed (this Qur´an) in a non-Arabic language, they would have said, "Why are its verses not clear and understandable? What? A non-Arabic (discourse) and an Arabic (audience)?" Say to them, "For those who believe, this Qur´an is a guidance and a cure (for spiritual ailments). While, it is a plug for the ears and a blindfold for the eyes of those who do not believe. (It is, as if) they (barely) hear being summoned from a far off place |
Edward Henry Palmer And had we made it a foreign Qur'an, they would have said, 'Unless its signs be detailed. .. . What! foreign and Arabic?' Say, 'It is, for those who believe, a guidance and a healing. But those who believe not, in their ears is dullness, and it is blindness to them; these are called to from a far-off place |
Farook Malik Had We revealed this Qur’an in a foreign language, they (same people) would have said: "Why have not its verses been made clear? Why in a foreign language, while the audience are Arabs?" Say O Prophet: "To the believers, it is a guide and a healing; and the ones who do not believe, it is merely their deafness and their blindness; because they act as if they are being called from a far-off place |
George Sale If We had revealed the Koran in a foreign language, they had surely said, unless the signs thereof be distinctly explained, we will not receive the same: Is the book written in a foreign tongue, and the person unto whom it is directed, an Arabian? Answer, it is, unto those who believe, a sure guide, and a remedy for doubt and uncertainty: But unto those who believe not, it is a thickness of hearing in their ears, and it is a darkness which covereth them; these are as they who are called unto from a distant place |
Maududi Had We revealed this as a non-Arabic Qur´an they would have said: "Why were its verses not clearly expounded? How strange, a non-Arabic scripture and an Arab audience!" Tell them: "It is a guidance and a healing to the believers. But to those who do not believe, it serves as a plug in their ears and a covering over their eyes. It is as if they are being called from a place far away |
