Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Fussilat ayat 45 - فُصِّلَت - Page - Juz 24
Dr Kamal Omar And surely, indeed We delivered Musa Al-Kitab (‘The Book’). Then a dispute was created (by people about the teachings) therein. And if a statement had not already proceeded from your Nourisher-Sustainer (that Final Judgment shall be pronounced on the Day of Resurrection), surely, (their case) would have been decided between them. And truly, they are indeed in grave doubt thereof |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And, certainly, We gave Moses the Book. Then, they were at variance about it. And if it were not for a Word that had preceded from thy Lord, it would have been decided between them. But, truly, they are in uncertainty, ones in grave doubt about it |
Dr Munir Munshey We had granted Musa the book; it, (too), was (questioned and) disputed. But your Lord´s word has already been decreed. Had it not been for that, their dispute would have been decided (and settled) once and for all. They remained hopelessly in doubt about it (the book) |
Edward Henry Palmer And we gave Moses the Book, and it was disputed about; but had it not been for thy Lord's word already passed it would have been decided between them, for, verily, they were in hesitating doubt thereon |
Farook Malik Before this Qur’an, We had given the Book to Moses and it was similarly disputed. If your Lord had not already given a word, the Judgment would have been passed between the disputants; grave though their suspicions were about it |
George Sale We heretofore gave the book of the law unto Moses; and a dispute arose concerning the same: And if a previous decree had not proceeded from thy Lord, to respite the opposers of that revelation, verily the matter had been decided between them, by the destruction of the infidels; for they were in a very great doubt as to the same |
Maududi And in the past We gave Moses the Book and yet it became an object of dispute. If your Lord´s decree had not gone forth before, a decisive judgement would have been made among them, once and for all. Surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it |
