Everyone of pecuniary resources must spend according to his means, and he who is of wanting means to produce the comforts of life shall spend in accordance with what Allah has given him. Allah imposes upon no soul or on anyone the tribute of spending but within the limitations of what He has given him; and behind an instance of hardship, Allah will bring relief

﴿لينفق ذو سعة من سعته ومن قدر عليه رزقه فلينفق مما آتاه﴾ [الطَّلَاق: 7]

Dr Kamal Omar
Let the one who is rich spend according to his means, and the one on whom his provision is set according to bare needs — so he will spend (according to his means) out of what Allah has given to him. Allah does not burden a Nafs except (for) that which He has given (capacity) to her. Soon Allah will establish, after hardship, easiness
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
The possessor of plenty spends from his plenty. And he whose provisions were measured, he will spend out of what God gave him. And God places not a burden on any person beyond what He gave him. God will make ease after hardship
Dr Munir Munshey
Let the well-to-do spend according to his means, and let the one with limited resources spend according to what Allah has granted him. Never does Allah obligate anyone in excess of what He has granted him. Allah may soon change the difficult circumstances into (leisure and) comfort
Edward Henry Palmer
let him who has plenty expend of his plenty; but he whose provision is doled out, let him expend of what God has given him; God will not compel any soul beyond what He has given it;- God will make after difficulty ease
Farook Malik
Let the rich man give according to his means, and the poor man give according to what Allah has given him. Allah does not charge a man with more than He has given him; soon Allah may bring ease after hardship
George Sale
let him who hath plenty expend proportionably, in the maintenance of the mother and the nurse, out of his plenty: And let him whose income is scanty, expend in proportion out of that which God hath given him. God obligeth no man to more than He hath given him ability to perform: God will cause ease to succeed hardship
Maududi
Whoever has abundant means, let him spend according to his means; and he whose means are straitened, let him spend out of what Allah has given him. Allah does not burden any human being beyond the means that He has bestowed upon him. Possibly Allah will grant ease after hardship
