Quran with British translation - Surah Yusuf ayat 17 - يُوسُف - Page - Juz 12
﴿قَالُواْ يَٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّا ذَهَبۡنَا نَسۡتَبِقُ وَتَرَكۡنَا يُوسُفَ عِندَ مَتَٰعِنَا فَأَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئۡبُۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُؤۡمِنٖ لَّنَا وَلَوۡ كُنَّا صَٰدِقِينَ ﴾
[يُوسُف: 17]
﴿قالوا ياأبانا إنا ذهبنا نستبق وتركنا يوسف عند متاعنا فأكله الذئب وما﴾ [يُوسُف: 17]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir They said: O our father! surely we went off racing and left Yusuf by our goods, so the wolf devoured him, and you will not believe us though we are truthful |
| Mohammad Shafi They said, "O our father! We did indeed get ourselves engaged in the racing game and left Joseph behind with our goods. Then, the wolf ate him. And you will not believe us though we do tell you the truth |
| Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall Saying: O our father! We went racing one with another, and left Joseph by our things, and the wolf devoured him, and thou believest not our saying even when we speak the truth |
| Mufti Taqi Usmani They said, “Father, we went racing with one another, and left Yūsuf with our belongings, and the wolf ate him up. You will never believe us, howsoever truthful we may be.” |
| Muhammad Asad [and] said: "O our father! Behold, we went off racing with one another, and left Joseph behind with our things; and thereupon the wolf devoured him! But [we know that] thou wouldst not believe us even though we speak the truth |
| Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali They said, "O our father, surely we went racing with one another and left Yusuf by (Literally: at) our belongings; so the wolf ate him. And in no way would you be believing us, even if we are sincere |
| Muhammad Sarwar and saying, "Father, we went playing and left Joseph with our belongings. A wild-beast came and devoured him. We realize that you will not believe us even though we are telling the truth |
