Quran with English translation - Surah Al-Isra’ ayat 23 - الإسرَاء - Page - Juz 15
﴿۞ وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ وَبِٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ إِحۡسَٰنًاۚ إِمَّا يَبۡلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ ٱلۡكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَوۡ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفّٖ وَلَا تَنۡهَرۡهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوۡلٗا كَرِيمٗا ﴾
[الإسرَاء: 23]
﴿وقضى ربك ألا تعبدوا إلا إياه وبالوالدين إحسانا إما يبلغن عندك الكبر﴾ [الإسرَاء: 23]
| Al Bilal Muhammad Et Al Your Guardian Evolver has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be kind to parents, whether one or both of them attain old age in your lifetime. Do not say to them a word of contempt, nor disrespect them, but address them in terms of honor |
| Ali Bakhtiari Nejad And your Master ordered that do not serve except Him, and be good to your parents. If one of them or both of them reaches old age with you, do not say ugh (or yuck) to them and do not snap at them (or drive them away), and talk to them honorably (and kindly) |
| Ali Quli Qarai Your Lord has decreed that you shall not worship anyone except Him, and [He has enjoined] kindness to parents. Should any of them or both reach old age at your side, do not say to them, ‘Fie!’ And do not chide them, but speak to them noble words |
| Ali Unal Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him alone, and treat parents with the best of kindness. Should one of them, or both, attain old age in your lifetime, do not say "Ugh!" to them (as an indication of complaint or impatience), nor push them away, and always address them in gracious words |
| Hamid S Aziz Your Lord has decreed that you serve none other than Him; and that you show kindness to parents. If one or both of them reach old age with you, say not unto them, "Fie!", nor repulse them, but speak to them graciously and kindly |
| John Medows Rodwell Thy Lord hath ordained that ye worship none but him; and, kindness to your parents, whether one or both of them attain to old age with thee: and say not to them, "Fie!" neither reproach them; but speak to them both with respectful speech |
| Literal And your Lord passed judgment/ordered that you not worship except (only) Him, and with the (B) parents/father and mother a goodness if the old age reaches (E) one of them or both of them at/by/near you ,so do not say to them (B): "Ugh !" And do not deprive/yell at them (B) , and say to them (B) a gracious/kind saying/word |
| Mir Anees Original And your Fosterer has decreed that you should not serve anyone except Him and (that you should do) good to parents. If one of them or both of them reach old age in your presence, then do not say (even), “Uff,” to them nor scold them, but speak to them in words of honour |
