﴿يَدۡعُواْ لَمَن ضَرُّهُۥٓ أَقۡرَبُ مِن نَّفۡعِهِۦۚ لَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَوۡلَىٰ وَلَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡعَشِيرُ ﴾
[الحج: 13]
﴿يدعو لمن ضره أقرب من نفعه لبئس المولى ولبئس العشير﴾ [الحج: 13]
| Al Bilal Muhammad Et Al They call on one whose harm is nearer than his profit. Harmful indeed is the protector, and harmful the companion |
| Ali Bakhtiari Nejad He calls on someone whose harm is closer than his benefit, certainly a bad supporter (and friend) and certainly a bad companion |
| Ali Quli Qarai He invokes someone whose harm is surely likelier than his benefit. An evil ally indeed, and an evil companion |
| Ali Unal He even invokes the being that is far more likely to cause harm than benefit: what evil a patron, and what evil an associate |
| Hamid S Aziz He calls on him whose harm is nearer than his benefit - verily, an evil patron and an evil comrade |
| John Medows Rodwell He calleth on him who would sooner hurt than profit him. Surely, bad the lord, and, surely, bad the vassal |
