Al Bilal Muhammad Et Al As well as those who before them had homes and had accepted the faith, showed their affection to those who came to them for refuge, and entertained no desire in their hearts for things given to the latter, but gave them preference over themselves, even though poverty ensued. And those saved from the greed of their own selves, they are the ones who achieve prosperity |
Ali Bakhtiari Nejad And (part of it is for) those who settled down in the houses (in Medina) and in the faith before them, and they like anyone who emigrated to them, and they do not find any need in their minds for what they were given, and they prefer them over themselves even though poverty is among them. And anyone who restrains his own stinginess (and greed), then they are the successful ones |
Ali Quli Qarai [They are as well] for those who were settled in the land and [abided] in faith before them, who love those who migrate toward them, and do not find in their breasts any privation for that which is given to them, but prefer [the Immigrants] to themselves, though poverty be their own lot. And those who are saved from their own greed—it is they who are the felicitous |
Ali Unal Those who, before their coming, had their abode (in Madinah), preparing it as a home for Islam and faith, love those who emigrate to them for God’s sake, and in their hearts do not begrudge what they have been given, and (indeed) they prefer them over themselves, even though poverty be their own lot. John Medows Rodwell They of Medina who had been in possession of their abodes and embraced the faith before them, cherish those who take refuge with them; and they find not in their breasts any desire for what hath fallen to their share: they prefer them before themselves, though poverty be their own lot. And with such as are preserved from their own covetousness shall it be well |
