﴿فَأَمَّا عَادٞ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَقَالُواْ مَنۡ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةًۖ أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَهُمۡ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةٗۖ وَكَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجۡحَدُونَ ﴾
[فُصِّلَت: 15]
﴿فأما عاد فاستكبروا في الأرض بغير الحق وقالوا من أشد منا قوة﴾ [فُصِّلَت: 15]
| Abdel Haleem The people of 'Ad behaved arrogantly throughout the land without any right, saying, “Who could be stronger than us?” Did they not realize that God, who created them, was stronger than them?’ They continued to reject Our message |
| Abdul Hye As for Ad, they were arrogant in the land without right and said: “Who is mightier than us in strength?” Don’t they see that Allah, Who created them, was mightier in strength than them? They used to deny Our Verses |
| Abdullah Yusuf Ali Now the 'Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: "Who is superior to us in strength?" What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs |
