That was because they were averse to what Allah had revealed; so - Surah Muhammad ayat 9 in English

﴿ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَرِهُواْ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأَحۡبَطَ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ ﴾
[مُحمد: 9]

That was because they were averse to what Allah had revealed; so He let their works go to waste

﴿ذلك بأنهم كرهوا ما أنـزل الله فأحبط أعمالهم﴾ [مُحمد: 9]
