Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Ar-Ra‘d ayat 6 - الرَّعد - Page - Juz 13

They defiantly ask you -O Muhammad- to hasten the promised punishment instead of searching out the truth and be hopeful of Allah's mercy, albeit they heard of the typical instances of the past, forming particular cases of a principle and signal instances of punishment. Nonetheless, Allah, your Creator, is indeed Forgiving. He extends His mercy and forgiveness to people despite their wrongful actions, but also, Allah, punishes severely

Dr Kamal Omar
And they approach you in haste, committing evil before (committing) any good. And surely, have passed away before them (many) examples (of transgressing nations). And verily, your Nourisher-Sustainer is full of Forgiveness for mankind inspite of their wrong-doing. And verily, your Nourisher-Sustainer is surely severe in retribution
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
And they seek thee to hasten on evil deeds before the benevolence. And, surely, passed away before them exemplary punishments. But, truly, thy Lord is certainly, The Possessor of Forgiveness for humanity in spite of their injustice. And, truly, thy Lord is Severe in repayment
Dr Munir Munshey
They hasten to seek the bad before the good. The likes of them have gone by earlier. Indeed, your Lord forgives people despite their sins! Indeed, your Lord is very Stern when He punishes
Edward Henry Palmer
They will wish thee to hasten on the evil rather than the good; examples have passed away before them: but thy Lord is possessor of forgiveness unto men, notwithstanding their injustice; but, verily, thy Lord is keen to punish
Farook Malik
They ask you to hasten on the evil rather than the good, although there have been instances of exemplary punishments before them. In fact your Lord is the Lord of Forgiveness to the people, notwithstanding their wrongdoing; and it is also the fact that your Lord is stern in retribution
George Sale
They will ask of thee to hasten evil rather than good: Although there have already been examples of the divine vengeance before them. Thy Lord is surely indued with indulgence towards men, notwithstanding their iniquity; but thy Lord is also severe in punishing
Maududi
They challenge you to hasten the coming of evil upon them before the coming of any good, although people who followed a like course before had met with exemplary punishment (from Allah). Verily your Lord is forgiving to mankind despite all their wrong-doing. Verily your Lord is also severe in retribution
