﴿وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا لُقۡمَٰنَ ٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ أَنِ ٱشۡكُرۡ لِلَّهِۚ وَمَن يَشۡكُرۡ فَإِنَّمَا يَشۡكُرُ لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٞ ﴾
[لُقمَان: 12]
﴿ولقد آتينا لقمان الحكمة أن اشكر لله ومن يشكر فإنما يشكر لنفسه﴾ [لُقمَان: 12]
Dr Kamal Omar And certainly, definitely We gave Luqman wisdom; that, adopt practical thankfulness for Allah, and whosoever would pay thanks, so surely what (is a fact is that) he pays thanks for his own self; and whosoever disobeyed — then undoubtedly Allah is Self-Independent, Immensely Praised |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And, certainly, We gave Luqman wisdom that: Give thanks to God. And whoever gives thanks, gives thanks only for himself. And whoever was ungrateful— then, truly, God is Sufficient, Worthy of Praise |

George Sale We heretofore bestowed wisdom on Lokman, and commanded him, saying, be thou thankful unto God: For whoever is thankful, shall be thankful to the advantage of his own soul; and if any shall be unthankful, verily God is self-sufficient, and worthy to be praised |
Maududi We bestowed wisdom upon Luqman, (enjoining): "Give thanks to Allah." Whoso gives thanks to Allah, does so to his own good. And whoso disbelieves (let him know that) Allah is All-Sufficient, Immensely Praiseworthy |
