﴿يَٰنِسَآءَ ٱلنَّبِيِّ لَسۡتُنَّ كَأَحَدٖ مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ إِنِ ٱتَّقَيۡتُنَّۚ فَلَا تَخۡضَعۡنَ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ فَيَطۡمَعَ ٱلَّذِي فِي قَلۡبِهِۦ مَرَضٞ وَقُلۡنَ قَوۡلٗا مَّعۡرُوفٗا ﴾
[الأحزَاب: 32]
﴿يانساء النبي لستن كأحد من النساء إن اتقيتن فلا تخضعن بالقول فيطمع﴾ [الأحزَاب: 32]
| Dr Kamal Omar O Nisa-An-Nabi (women of the Prophet)! You are not just like one of the (ordinary) women. If you keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft in speech, lest one gets excited with desire — one in whose heart is a disease; and you should utter statement in an honourable and guarded style |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar O wives of the Prophet! There is not among the wives any like you. If you (f) were Godfearing, then, be not soft in your saying so that he become desirous he in whose heart is a sickness, but say (f) a saying of one who is honorable |
| Dr Munir Munshey Oh wives of the prophet! You are not like other women. If you fear Allah, do not speak in a soft and pleasant voice, lest someone harboring evil desires in his heart entertains evil thoughts. Be straightforward and say the right thing |

| Maududi Wives of the Prophet, you are not like other women. If you fear Allah, do not be too complaisant in your speech lest those with diseased hearts should covet you; but speak in a straight forward manner |
