﴿أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ فِيٓ أُمَمٖ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ خَٰسِرِينَ ﴾
[الأحقَاف: 18]
﴿أولئك الذين حق عليهم القول في أمم قد خلت من قبلهم من﴾ [الأحقَاف: 18]
| Dr Kamal Omar They are those against whom the statement has proved to be true among the communities of jinns and mankind, which surely have passed before these people. Surely, they have become the losers |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Those are those against whom the saying was realized about the communities that passed away before of the jinn and humankind. Truly, they had been ones who are losers |
| Dr Munir Munshey Such are the ones who deserve the doom. The decision has been decreed against them, and other jinn and humans (like them) in the generations gone by. Indeed, all of them are the losers |
| Edward Henry Palmer There are those against whom the sentence was due amongst the nations who have passed away before them of ginns and men; verily, they have been the losers |
| Farook Malik Such are the people against whom the verdict of torment has proved true and they will be among the prior people of the jinns and the men that have passed away before them. Indeed they will be the losers |
| George Sale These are they whom the sentence passed on the nations which have been before them, of genii and of men, justly fitteth: They shall surely perish |
| Maududi It is against such that Allah´s sentence (of punishment) has become due. They will join the communities of humans and jinn that have preceded them. Verily all of them will court utter loss |
