﴿وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مَا حَوۡلَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ وَصَرَّفۡنَا ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ ﴾
[الأحقَاف: 27]
﴿ولقد أهلكنا ما حولكم من القرى وصرفنا الآيات لعلهم يرجعون﴾ [الأحقَاف: 27]
| Dr Kamal Omar And surely indeed, We destroyed that which (existed) around you of the towns, and We have scattered the Verses (in the Text of the Scripture on any particular subject) so that they may turn (their attention to Al-Kitab for a detailed view) |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And, certainly, We caused to perish towns around you and We diversified the signs so that perhaps they will return |
| Dr Munir Munshey Indeed, We have destroyed several of the towns around you; We amply explained and exhibited Our signs, so that they might come back (to the right path) |
| Edward Henry Palmer And we destroyed the cities that are around you:- and we turned about the signs that haply they might return |
| Farook Malik We have destroyed the towns which once flourished around you - and We repeatedly sent them Our revelations so that they may turn to the Right Way |
| George Sale We heretofore destroyed the cities which were round about you; and We variously proposed our signs unto them, that they might repent |
| Maududi Surely We destroyed many a town around you. We sent Our Messages to them repeatedly and in diverse forms that they may eschew (their evil ways) and return (to Allah) |
