Dr Kamal Omar Certainly, what (is a fact is that) Allah forbids you against those who indulged in Qital against you on account of Religion, and have driven you out from your homes, and they provided assistance to each other in connection with your externment (from your houses) — that you may befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then those people: they (very ones) are those who are transgressors |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar God prohibits you only from those who fought against you in your way of life and drove you out of your abodes and were behind expelling you, that you turn to them in friendship. And whoever turns to them in friendship, then, those, they are the ones who are unjust |
Dr Munir Munshey But Allah forbids you to befriend those who fought against you over matters of faith, those who either assisted others in driving you out of your homes or drove you out themselves. Those of you who befriend them are indeed the evil doers |
Edward Henry Palmer He only forbids you to make patrons of those who have fought against you for religion's sake, and driven you forth from your homes, or have aided in your expulsion; and whoever makes patrons of them, they are the unjust |
Farook Malik Allah only forbids you to make friendship with those who fought you on account of your faith and drove you out of your homes and backed up others in your expulsion. Those who will take them for friends are indeed the wrongdoers |
George Sale But as to those who have born arms against you on account of religion, and have dispossessed you of your habitations, and have assisted in dispossessing you, God forbideth you to enter into friendship with them: And whosoever of you enters into friendship with them, those are unjust doers |
Maududi Allah only forbids you to be friends with those who have fought against you on account of religion and who have driven you out of your homes and have abetted in your expulsion. And any who make friends with them, they are the wrong-doers |
