﴿۞ وَوَٰعَدۡنَا مُوسَىٰ ثَلَٰثِينَ لَيۡلَةٗ وَأَتۡمَمۡنَٰهَا بِعَشۡرٖ فَتَمَّ مِيقَٰتُ رَبِّهِۦٓ أَرۡبَعِينَ لَيۡلَةٗۚ وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَخِيهِ هَٰرُونَ ٱخۡلُفۡنِي فِي قَوۡمِي وَأَصۡلِحۡ وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ سَبِيلَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ ﴾
[الأعرَاف: 142]
﴿وواعدنا موسى ثلاثين ليلة وأتممناها بعشر فتم ميقات ربه أربعين ليلة وقال﴾ [الأعرَاف: 142]
| Dr Kamal Omar And We promised Musa ‘thirty nights’ and We completed this term with ten (additional sessions). So he (i.e., Musa) completed the sitting (arranged by) his Nourisher-Sustainer (appearing as) forty nights. And Musa said to his brother Harun: “Act as my vicegerent to my nation and do reform and do not follow the way of the mischief-seekers.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And We appointed thirty nights for Moses. And We completed them with ten more. Thus, fulfilled was the time appointed by his Lord of forty nights. And Moses said to his brother, Aaron: Be my successor among my folk and make things right and follow not the way of the ones who make corruption |

And Moses said to his brother, Aaron, 'Take my place amongst my people in my absence, and manage them well and follow not the way of the mischief-makers |
| Maududi And We appointed for Moses thirty nights, to which We added ten, whereby the term of forty nights set by his Lord was fulfilled. And Moses said to Aaron, his brother: ´Take my place among my people, act righteously, and do not follow the path of those who create mischief.´ |
