﴿قُلۡ إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ ٱلۡفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَٱلۡإِثۡمَ وَٱلۡبَغۡيَ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَن تُشۡرِكُواْ بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ يُنَزِّلۡ بِهِۦ سُلۡطَٰنٗا وَأَن تَقُولُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ﴾
[الأعرَاف: 33]
﴿قل إنما حرم ربي الفواحش ما ظهر منها وما بطن والإثم والبغي﴾ [الأعرَاف: 33]
Dr Kamal Omar Say: “Definitely it is (that) my Nourisher-Sustainer has declared Haram (prohibited and banned) Al-Fawahish what became evident thereof and whatever remained out of view, and also Al-Ism (evil and sin), and Al-Bigha (breahead of state the limits in rebellion) — without right; and that you may indulge in Shirk with Allah — that, He has not provided for it any basis, and that you may utter about Allah which you (yourself) do not know |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Say: My Lord forbade not but indecencies—what was manifest or what was inward—and sins and unrightful insolence, to ascribe partners with God when He sends not down for it any authority and that you say about God what you know not |
Dr Munir Munshey Say, "In fact, my Lord has forbidden all kinds of lewd and obscene acts whether committed openly or in secret: (all sorts of) sins and wrongful oppressions, associating anything (or anyone) with Allah for which He has revealed no sanction, and attributing to Allah that about which you know nothing |
Edward Henry Palmer Say, 'My Lord has rely prohibited abominable deeds, the apparent thereof and the concealed thereof, and sin, and greed for that which is not right, and associating with God what He has sent down no power for, and saying against God that which ye do not know |
Farook Malik Say: "My Lord has forbidden all indecencies whether open or secret, sin and rebellion against justice, committing shirk with Allah for which He has granted no sanction, and saying things about Allah of which you have no knowledge |
George Sale Say, verily my Lord hath forbidden filthy actions, both that which is discovered thereof, and that which is concealed, and also iniquity, and unjust violence; and hath forbidden you to associate with God that concerning which he hath sent you down no authority, or to speak of God that which ye know not |
Maududi Tell them (0 Muhammad): ´My Lord has only forbidden indecent acts, whether overt or hidden; all manner of sin; wrongful transgression; and [He has forbidden] that you associate with Allah in His divinity that for which He has sent down no sanction; and that you ascribe to Allah things of which you have no sure knowledge that they are from Him.´ |
