Dr Kamal Omar And who is more unjust than that who invented against Allah a lie or belied His Ayaat? They are (those whom) shall reach their share from Al-Kitab (i.e., the punishments and recompense as explained in this Guide-Book) until when reached them Our messengers (and) they implement wafat (death) over them, (these angel-messengers) said: “Where are those whom you used to invoke besides Allah?” (The dying ones) said: “They have deserted us.” And (thus) they gave evidence against their ownselves that they were disbelievers |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Then, who does greater wrong than he who devised a lie against God or denied His signs? Those, they will attain their share from the Book. Until Our Messengers drew near to gather them to themselves, they will say: Where are who you had been calling on other than God? They will say: They went astray from us. And they bore witness against themselves that, truly, they had been ones who are ungrateful |
Dr Munir Munshey Could anyone be more evil than the one who invents lies about Allah or rejects His revelations? Such ones would continue to receive their apportioned provisions according to the book of decrees (right until their death). When Our messengers, (the angels of death), come to them to claim their souls, they would ask, "Now, where are all those you used to pray to and worship, instead of Allah?" They would reply, "All of them have all vanished and deserted us." Thus, they would bear witness against themselves, that they were indeed the unbelievers |
Edward Henry Palmer Who is more unjust than he who devises against God a lie, or says His signs are lies? These, their portion of the Book shall reach them, until when our messengers come to take their souls away, and say, 'Where is what ye used to call upon instead of God?' they say, 'They have strayed away from us;' and they shall bear witness against themselves that they have been misbelievers |
Farook Malik Who can be more unjust than the one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His revelations? Such people will have their destined portion from the Book (what was written for them to receive during their life on earth); until when Our messengers (angels of death) arrive to take away their souls, they will ask: "Where are those gods whom you used to invoke besides Allah?" They will reply: "They have forsaken us" and they will bear witness against themselves (admit) that they were indeed kuffar (unbelievers) |
George Sale And who is more unjust than he who deviseth a lie concerning God, or accuseth his signs of imposture? Unto these shall be given their portion of worldly happiness, according to what is written in the book of God's decrees, until our messengers come unto them, and shall cause them to die; saying, where are the idols which ye called upon, besides God? They shall answer, they have disappeared from us. And they shall bear witness against themselves, that they were unbelievers |
Maududi Who is more unjust then he who invents a falsehood, ascribing it to Allah, or who rejects His revelation as false? Their full portion of God´s Decree shall reach them, until Our deputed angels come to them to take charge of their souls, and say: ´Where are the deities now, those whom you invoked besides Allah?´ They will say: ´They are all gone away from us.´ And they shall bear witness against themselves that they were unbelievers |
