﴿قَالَ ٱدۡخُلُواْ فِيٓ أُمَمٖ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ فِي ٱلنَّارِۖ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتۡ أُمَّةٞ لَّعَنَتۡ أُخۡتَهَاۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا ٱدَّارَكُواْ فِيهَا جَمِيعٗا قَالَتۡ أُخۡرَىٰهُمۡ لِأُولَىٰهُمۡ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَضَلُّونَا فَـَٔاتِهِمۡ عَذَابٗا ضِعۡفٗا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِۖ قَالَ لِكُلّٖ ضِعۡفٞ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَعۡلَمُونَ ﴾
[الأعرَاف: 38]
﴿قال ادخلوا في أمم قد خلت من قبلكم من الجن والإنس في﴾ [الأعرَاف: 38]
| Dr Kamal Omar (Allah) said: “Enter you among (the company of the) Umam who definitely went before you — out of Jinn and mankind — in (Hell-) Fire. Every time an ummah entered (Hell-Fire) it cursed her sister (community), until when they settled therein — altogether, the latter of them said for their earlier one: “Our Nourisher-Sustainer! These very ones made us astray. So provide them more severe punishment out of the Fire.” (Allah) said: “To all (of you it is) more severe but you do not know.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar He will say: Enter among the communities that passed away before you of jinn and humankind into the fire. Every time a community entered, it would curse its sister community until when they will come successively in it altogether. The last of them would say to the first of them: Our Lord! These caused us to go astray so give them a double punishment of the fire. He will say: For everyone it is double except you know not |
| Dr Munir Munshey Allah will say, "Enter the fire along with the generations of humans and jinn that lived before you. As it enters (the hellfire), each generation will curse the group ahead of it. Finally, when they are all together in the fire, each succeeding generation will say about the one preceding it, "Our Lord, these are the ones who led us astray. Give them twice the torment by the (hell) fire." (Allah) will say, "There is twice the torment for each one of you, but you (just) do not realize |
| Edward Henry Palmer He will say, 'Enter ye - amongst the nations who have passed away before you, both of ginns and men - into the fire;' whenever a nation enters therein, it curses its mate; until, when they have all reached it, the last of them will say unto the first, 'O our Lord! these it was who led us astray, give them double torment of the fire!' He will say, 'To each of you double! but ye do not know |
| Farook Malik Allah will say: "Enter the fire and join the nations of Jinns and men who have gone before you." As each nation will enter hell, it will curse its preceding sister till all are gathered there, the last of them will say about the first one: "Our Lord! These have led us astray; therefore, give them double punishment of the fire." He will answer: "There will be double for all, although you may not know because of being predecessor or successor in sin and aggression |
| George Sale God shall say unto them at the resurrection, enter ye with the nations which have preceded you, of genii and of men, into hell fire: So often as one nation shall enter, it shall curse its sister, until they shall all have successively entered therein. The latter of them shall say of the former of them, O Lord, these have seduced us; therefore inflict on them a double punishment of the fire of hell. God shall answer, it shall be doubled unto all; but ye know it not |
| Maududi Allah ivill say: ´Enter the fire of Hell and join the nations of jinn and men that have gone before You.´ As a nation enters Hill, it will curse the one that went before it, and when all are gathered there, the last of them shall say of the first: ´Our Lord! These are the ones who led us astray. Let their torment be doubled in Hell-Fire.´ He will answer: ´Each will have a doubled torment; although you do not know.´ |
