Quran with British translation - Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 167 - البَقَرَة - Page - Juz 2
﴿وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُواْ لَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةٗ فَنَتَبَرَّأَ مِنۡهُمۡ كَمَا تَبَرَّءُواْ مِنَّاۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُرِيهِمُ ٱللَّهُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ حَسَرَٰتٍ عَلَيۡهِمۡۖ وَمَا هُم بِخَٰرِجِينَ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ ﴾
[البَقَرَة: 167]
﴿وقال الذين اتبعوا لو أن لنا كرة فنتبرأ منهم كما تبرءوا منا﴾ [البَقَرَة: 167]
Mohammad Habib Shakir And those who followed shall say: Had there been for us a return, then we would renounce them as they have renounced us. Thus will Allah show them their deeds to be intense regret to them, and they shall not come forth from the fire |
Mohammad Shafi And the followers would say, "If only we would have a return, we would disown them as they have disowned us." Thus shall Allah show them their deeds as anguishes upon them themselves. And there shall be no exit for them from the Fire |
Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall And those who were but followers will say: If a return were possible for us, we would disown them even as they have disowned us. Thus will Allah show them their own deeds as anguish for them, and they will not emerge from the Fire |
Mufti Taqi Usmani and those who followed will say, “We wish we had another (chance to) return (to the world), so that we may disown them as they had disowned us.” Thus Allah will show them that their deeds were (nothing but) causes of remorse for them, and they are not to come out of the Fire |
Muhammad Asad And then those followers shall say: "Would that we had a second chance [in life], so that we could disown them as they have disowned us!" Thus will God show them their works [in a manner that will cause them] batter regrets; but they will not come out of the fire |
Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali And (the ones) who closely followed have said, "If a comeback were given us, so we (could) acquit ourselves of them, as they have acquitted themselves of us." Thus Allah will show them their deeds (as) regrets for them; and in no way will they be ever going out of the Fire |
Muhammad Sarwar The followers will say, "Had we had the chance we also would have denounced our leaders." That is how God will show them their regrettable deeds. They will not be able to escape from hell fire |

Safi Kaskas the followers will say, "If only we had another chance, we would disown them just as they have disowned us." Thus God will make them bitterly regret their works. They will not leave Hell |
