Quran with British translation - Surah Al-Qasas ayat 79 - القَصَص - Page - Juz 20
﴿فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ فِي زِينَتِهِۦۖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا يَٰلَيۡتَ لَنَا مِثۡلَ مَآ أُوتِيَ قَٰرُونُ إِنَّهُۥ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٖ ﴾
[القَصَص: 79]
﴿فخرج على قومه في زينته قال الذين يريدون الحياة الدنيا ياليت لنا﴾ [القَصَص: 79]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir So he went forth to his people in his finery. Those who desire this world's life said: O would that we had the like of what Qaroun is given; most surely he is possessed of mighty good fortune |
| Mohammad Shafi And so he went out before his people in his pomp. Those who were desirous of the life of this world said, "Ah! Would that we had the like of what Korah has been given. He does indeed possess an exceptionally great fortune |
| Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall Then went he forth before his people in his pomp. Those who were desirous of the life of the world said: Ah, would that we had the like of what hath been given unto Korah! Lo! he is lord of rare good fortune |

The ones who would like (to gain) the present life (Literally: the lowly "life", i.e., the life of this world) said, "Oh, would that we had the like of what Qarun has been brought! | Muhammad Sarwar Korah would bedeck himself to show off his wealth. Those who wanted worldly gains would say, "Would that we were given that which Korah has received. He has certainly received a great share |
