﴿مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ حُمِّلُواْ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَحۡمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ ٱلۡحِمَارِ يَحۡمِلُ أَسۡفَارَۢاۚ بِئۡسَ مَثَلُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ﴾
[الجُمعَة: 5]
﴿مثل الذين حملوا التوراة ثم لم يحملوها كمثل الحمار يحمل أسفارا بئس﴾ [الجُمعَة: 5]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir The likeness of those who were charged with the Taurat, then they did not observe it, is as the likeness of the ass bearing books, evil is the likeness of the people who reject the communications of Allah; and Allah does not guide the unjust people |
| Mohammad Shafi Those who were given the responsibility of bearing [following the instructions in] the Torah, but did not do so are like an ass carrying a load of books. Terrible is the example of those who deny Allah's signs/Verses! And Allah does not guide the wicked people |
