﴿وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّي جَاعِلٞ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ خَلِيفَةٗۖ قَالُوٓاْ أَتَجۡعَلُ فِيهَا مَن يُفۡسِدُ فِيهَا وَيَسۡفِكُ ٱلدِّمَآءَ وَنَحۡنُ نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمۡدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَۖ قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ﴾
[البَقَرَة: 30]
﴿وإذ قال ربك للملائكة إني جاعل في الأرض خليفة قالوا أتجعل فيها﴾ [البَقَرَة: 30]
| Abdel Haleem [Prophet], when your Lord told the angels, ‘I am putting a successor on earth,’ they said, ‘How can You put someone there who will cause damage and bloodshed, when we celebrate Your praise and proclaim Your holiness?’ but He said, ‘I know things you do not.’ |
| Abdul Hye And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: “Surely, I am going to place a successor on earth.” They said: “Will You place in it those who will make mischief in it and shed blood, while we praise You and glorify Your name?” He (Allah) said: “Indeed I know what you don’t know.” |
| Abdullah Yusuf Ali Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I will create a vicegerent on earth." They said: "Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?- whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know what ye know not |
