﴿وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا ٱئۡتِ بِقُرۡءَانٍ غَيۡرِ هَٰذَآ أَوۡ بَدِّلۡهُۚ قُلۡ مَا يَكُونُ لِيٓ أَنۡ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلۡقَآيِٕ نَفۡسِيٓۖ إِنۡ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيَّۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَيۡتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ ﴾
[يُونس: 15]
﴿وإذا تتلى عليهم آياتنا بينات قال الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا ائت بقرآن﴾ [يُونس: 15]
| Dr Kamal Omar And when are recited to them Our Ayaat which are evidently manifest, said those who do not hope a meeting with Us: “Come to us with a Quran other than this or change it.” Say: “It suits not me that I may change it from the inclination of my ownself. I do not follow except what has been made evident to me. Verily, I fear, if I disobeyed my Nourisher-Sustainer, punishment on the great Day.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And when are recounted to them Our signs, clear portents, those who hope not for their meeting with Us said: Bring us a Recitation other than this or substitute it. Say: It be not possible for me to substitute it of my own accord. I follow nothing but what is revealed to me. Truly, I fear if I rebelled against my Lord a punishment on the tremendous Day |
| Dr Munir Munshey Those not expecting to meet Us (after death), listen to the unambiguous verses recited to them and they say, "Bring us a different Qur´an or at least change it!" Tell them, "I cannot change it of my own accord. I only follow that which was revealed to me. I fear the punishment on that great day, if I were to disobey my Lord |
| Edward Henry Palmer But when our evident signs are recited to them, those who hope not for our meeting say, 'Bring a Qur'an other than this; or change it.' Say, 'It is not for me to change it of my own accord; I do not follow aught but what I am inspired with; verily, I fear, if I rebel against my Lord, the torment of a mighty day |
| Farook Malik When Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who entertain no hope of meeting Us say to you: "Bring us a Qur’an different than this or make some changes in it." O Muhammad, tell them: "It is not possible for me to change it myself. I follow only what is revealed to me. Indeed, I cannot disobey my Lord, for I fear the punishment of a Mighty Day |
| George Sale When our evident signs are recited unto them, they who hope not to meet us at the resurrection, say, bring a different Koran from this; or make some change therein. Answer, it is not fit for me, that I should change it at my pleasure: I follow that only which is revealed unto me. Verily I fear, if I should be disobedient unto my Lord, the punishment of the great day |
| Maududi And whenever Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who do not expect to meet Us say: `Bring us a Qur`an other than this one, or at least make changes in it. Tell them (O Muhammad): `It is not for me to change it of my accord. I only follow what is revealed to me. Were I to disobey my Lord, I fear the chastisement of an Awesome Day |
