﴿بَلۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِمَا لَمۡ يُحِيطُواْ بِعِلۡمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأۡتِهِمۡ تَأۡوِيلُهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ﴾
[يُونس: 39]
﴿بل كذبوا بما لم يحيطوا بعلمه ولما يأتهم تأويله كذلك كذب الذين﴾ [يُونس: 39]
| Dr Kamal Omar Nay! They have denied which they did not comprehend in the knowledge thereof, and yet the true understanding of it has not come to them. The same way denied those who (went) before them. Then ponder what was the final end of the transgressors |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Nay! They denied the knowledge that they comprehend not while approaches them not the interpretation. Thus, those who were before them denied. So look on how had been the Ultimate End of the ones who are unjust |
| Dr Munir Munshey Actually, they rejected that, (the Qur´an), which they failed to comprehend. Its full significance has yet not dawned upon them. Those before them, too, had rejected! So, observe their fate! What became of the evildoers |

| Maududi In fact they arbitrarily rejected as false whatever they failed to comprehend and whose final sequel was not apparent to them. Likewise had their predecessors rejected the truth, declaring it falsehood. Do observe, then, what was the end of the wrong-doers |
