﴿قَالَ هِيَ رَٰوَدَتۡنِي عَن نَّفۡسِيۚ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٞ مِّنۡ أَهۡلِهَآ إِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن قُبُلٖ فَصَدَقَتۡ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ ﴾
[يُوسُف: 26]
﴿قال هي راودتني عن نفسي وشهد شاهد من أهلها إن كان قميصه﴾ [يُوسُف: 26]
| Dr Kamal Omar (Yusuf) said (to her husband): “She (it is), she seduced me against my inclination, ” And a witness of her household bore witness:" If his shirt has been torn on the front-side, then she has spoken the truth and he is of those who lie |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar He said: She solicited me, enticing me to evil. And one who bears witness bore witness from her household and said: If his long shirt had been torn from the front, then, she was sincere, and he was among the ones who lie |
| Dr Munir Munshey He said, "She was the one trying to seduce me!" A witness from her family made an observation. He said, "If the front of his shirt is torn, then she is right and he is the liar |
| Edward Henry Palmer Said he, 'She desired me for my person.' And a witness from among her family bore witness: 'If his shirt be rent from in front, then she speaks the truth and he is of the liars |
| Farook Malik Joseph said: "It was she who attempted to seduce me." At this - one accusing the other - one member of her own family bore witness saying: "If his shirt is ripped from the front, then she is speaking the truth and he is lying |
| George Sale And Joseph said, she asked me to lie with her. And a witness of her family bore witness, saying, if his garment be rent before, she speaketh truth, and he is a liar |
| Maududi Joseph said: "It is she who was trying to tempt me to herself." And a witness belonging to her own household testified (on grounds of circumstantial evidence): "If his shirt is torn from the front, then she is telling the truth and he is a liar |
