﴿رَّبَّنَآ إِنِّيٓ أَسۡكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِي بِوَادٍ غَيۡرِ ذِي زَرۡعٍ عِندَ بَيۡتِكَ ٱلۡمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱجۡعَلۡ أَفۡـِٔدَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ تَهۡوِيٓ إِلَيۡهِمۡ وَٱرۡزُقۡهُم مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَشۡكُرُونَ ﴾
[إبراهِيم: 37]
﴿ربنا إني أسكنت من ذريتي بواد غير ذي زرع عند بيتك المحرم﴾ [إبراهِيم: 37]
Dr Kamal Omar Our Nourisher-Sustainer! Indeed, I have settled out of my offspring by the valley devoid of cultivation, close to your Sacred and Honoured House (i.e., Kaba at Makka). Our Nourisher-Sustainer, that they may establish As-Salat (and may lead the congregation to True, Original and Vibrant Islam as contained in Your Al-Kitab); so make the hearts of the people incline towards them and provide them sustenance from fruits in order that they may give thanks |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Our Lord! Truly, I caused to dwell some of my offspring in an unsown valley by Thy Holy House, O our Lord, they, certainly, perform the formal prayer. So make the minds among humanity yearn for them and provide them with fruits so that perhaps they will give thanks |
Dr Munir Munshey Oh our Lord! Surely, I have settled my family close to Your sanctified house, in a barren valley devoid of all cultivation, in order that they establish ´salat´. Oh our Lord, make their hearts lean towards it, and provide them Your bounties so they may express their gratitude |

Grant, therefore, that the hearts of some men may be affected with kindness towards them; and do thou bestow on them all sorts of fruits; that they may give thanks |
Maududi Our Lord! I have made some of my offspring settle in a barren valley near Your Sacred House! Our Lord! I did so that they may establish Prayer. So make the hearts of people affectionately inclined to them, and provide them with fruits for their sustenance that they may give thanks |
