﴿وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي يَذۡكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَهُم بِذِكۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ هُمۡ كَٰفِرُونَ ﴾
[الأنبيَاء: 36]
﴿وإذا رآك الذين كفروا إن يتخذونك إلا هزوا أهذا الذي يذكر آلهتكم﴾ [الأنبيَاء: 36]
| Dr Kamal Omar And when those who have disbelieved saw you, they do not behave with you except in jest and mockery (saying): 'Is this the one who discusses your gods?' And they at the mention of Ar-Rahman, behave as if they are those who do not Believe |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And when those who were ungrateful saw thee, they take thee to themselves not but in mockery: Ha! Is this he who mentions your gods? And they, for Remembrance of The Merciful, they are ones who are ungrateful |
| Dr Munir Munshey When the unbelievers see you, they treat you with scorn, (saying), "Is he the one who speaks (ill) of our gods?" While they themselves are such a sort that they refuse to accept any mention of Rehman |

| Maududi When the unbelievers see you they make you an object of fun, saying: "Is he the one who mentions your gods?" They say so, and yet they reject with disdain the very mention of the Most Compassionate Lord |
