﴿وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلرَّحۡمَٰنِ قَالُواْ وَمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ أَنَسۡجُدُ لِمَا تَأۡمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمۡ نُفُورٗا۩ ﴾
[الفُرقَان: 60]
﴿وإذا قيل لهم اسجدوا للرحمن قالوا وما الرحمن أنسجد لما تأمرنا وزادهم﴾ [الفُرقَان: 60]
| Dr Kamal Omar And when it is said to them: “Prostrate to Ar-Rahman.” They said: “And what (do you mean by) Ar-Rahman? Shall we submit to that which you command us?” And this increased them in aversion |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And when it was said to them: Prostrate yourselves to The Merciful, they said: And what is The Merciful? Will we prostrate ourselves to what thou hast commanded us? And it increased aversion in them.‡ |
