﴿وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ ﴾
[العَنكبُوت: 3]
﴿ولقد فتنا الذين من قبلهم فليعلمن الله الذين صدقوا وليعلمن الكاذبين﴾ [العَنكبُوت: 3]
| Dr Kamal Omar And surely, indeed We put to test and trial those before them. And surely, Allah will make known those who remained true (to the requirements of the Faith) and surely He will make known (all) those who are liars |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And, certainly, We tried those who were before them. Then, certainly, God knows those who were sincere and knows the ones who lie |
| Dr Munir Munshey We had certainly tested those before them. Allah definitely has to sift those who are true to their words from those who are liars |

| Maududi for We indeed tested those who went before them? Allah will most certainly ascertain those who spoke the truth and those who lied |
