Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah al-‘Imran ayat 188 - آل عِمران - Page - Juz 4

Do not think, O Muhammad; that those who rejoice at their successful perversion of their own Scriptures from its original purity to what accords with their own desire, and love to be credited with theological virtues which they do not possess, that they shall escape torment!. They shall in fact be put to the torture

Dr Kamal Omar
Do not think about those who rejoice about what they brought with (themselves) and they (also) love that they may be praised for that which they have not done — so regard them not as ‘rescued from the punishment’. And, for them, (is) a painful punishment
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
Assume not that those who are glad for what they brought and who love to be praised for what they accomplish not, assume not, then, that they will be kept safe from the punishment. And for them, a painful punishment
Dr Munir Munshey
Do not think that, those who exult in what they were given, and love to be praised for what they haven´t done (are safe). Do not think that they are exempt from the torment. There exists a painful punishment for them
Edward Henry Palmer
Count not that those who rejoice in what they have produced, and love to be praised for what they have not done,- think not that they are in safety from woe,- for them is grievous woe
Farook Malik
Think not that those who exult in what they have brought about, and love to be praised for what they have not done,- think not that they can escape the penalty. For them is a penalty grievous indeed
George Sale
Think not that they who rejoice at what they have done, and expect to be praised for what they have not done; think not, O prophet, that they shall escape from punishment, for they shall suffer a painful punishment
Maududi
Do not think that those who exult in their misdeeds and love to be praised for what indeed they have not done, do not think that they are secure from chastisement. A painful chastisement awaits them
