﴿لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفۡرَحُونَ بِمَآ أَتَواْ وَّيُحِبُّونَ أَن يُحۡمَدُواْ بِمَا لَمۡ يَفۡعَلُواْ فَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّهُم بِمَفَازَةٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ﴾
[آل عِمران: 188]
﴿لا تحسبن الذين يفرحون بما أتوا ويحبون أن يحمدوا بما لم يفعلوا﴾ [آل عِمران: 188]
Dr Kamal Omar Do not think about those who rejoice about what they brought with (themselves) and they (also) love that they may be praised for that which they have not done — so regard them not as ‘rescued from the punishment’. And, for them, (is) a painful punishment |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Assume not that those who are glad for what they brought and who love to be praised for what they accomplish not, assume not, then, that they will be kept safe from the punishment. And for them, a painful punishment |

Maududi Do not think that those who exult in their misdeeds and love to be praised for what indeed they have not done, do not think that they are secure from chastisement. A painful chastisement awaits them |
