Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah al-‘Imran ayat 20 - آل عِمران - Page - Juz 3
Dr Kamal Omar So if people made arguments with you, then declare: “I have surrendered my person to Allah and (so has) that who has followed me.” And say to those who are bestowed with Al-Kitab and (also to those who are) Ummiyyun: “Have you surrendered (to Allah in Islam)?” Then if they have surrendered, then verily, they have received guidance. But if they turn away, then certainly what is binding on you (is) conveying the Message. And Allah is All-Seer of (His) Ibad |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar So if they argued with thee, then say: I submitted my face to God as have those who followed me. And say to those who were given the Book and to the unlettered: Have you submitted to God? If they submitted to God, then, surely, they were truly guided. And if they turned away, then, on thee is only delivering the message. And God is Seeing of His servants |
Dr Munir Munshey If they argue with you, say "I and those who follow me, have surrendered our entire beings to Allah." Ask them both: those given the scriptures, as well as the illiterate pagans, "Are you willing to submit (to Allah)?" If they submit, then of course they are the rightly guided. If they turn away, then in fact (the responsibility) upon you is to convey (the message). Allah watches over His created servants |
Edward Henry Palmer And if they would dispute with thee, then say, 'I turn my face with resignation unto God, and whoso follows me.' And say to those who have been given the Book, unto the Gentiles, 'Are ye, too, resigned' and if they are resigned, then are they guided. But if they turn their backs, then thou hast only to preach, and God looks on his servants |
Farook Malik So if they argue with you (O Muhammad), tell them: "I have submitted myself entirely to Allah and so have those who follow me." Then ask those who are given the Book and those who are illiterate: "Will you also submit yourselves to Allah?" If they become Muslims they shall be rightly guided but if they turn back, you need not worry, because your sole responsibility is to convey the Message. Allah is watching all His servants very closely |
George Sale If they dispute with thee, say, I have resigned my self unto God, and he who followeth me doth the same: And say unto them who have received the scriptures, and to the ignorant, do ye profess the religion of Islam? Now if they embrace Islam, they are surely directed; but if they turn their backs, verily unto thee belongeth preaching only; for God regardeth his servants |
Maududi And if they remonstrate with you, tell them: ´I have submitted my whole being to Allah, and so have those who follow me.´ And ask the People of the Book as well as those who follow no heavenly Scripture: ´Have you also submitted (to Allah)?´ If they have submitted to Him, they are indeed on the right way but if they deviate from submitting to Allah, then your duty is merely to deliver the message. Allah observes the affairs of His servants |
