﴿ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي يُرۡسِلُ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابٗا فَيَبۡسُطُهُۥ فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ يَشَآءُ وَيَجۡعَلُهُۥ كِسَفٗا فَتَرَى ٱلۡوَدۡقَ يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ خِلَٰلِهِۦۖ فَإِذَآ أَصَابَ بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦٓ إِذَا هُمۡ يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ ﴾
[الرُّوم: 48]
﴿الله الذي يرسل الرياح فتثير سحابا فيبسطه في السماء كيف يشاء ويجعله﴾ [الرُّوم: 48]
| Dr Kamal Omar Allah is That who directs the winds, so they lift up the clouds, then He spreads it in the sky as He thinks proper, and sets this into sections until you see the rain — it comes out from its midst. Then when He reached alongwith it whom He thinks proper out of His Ibad (human subjects) — instantly they rejoice |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar God is He Who sends the winds so they raise clouds. He extends them in the heaven how He wills and He makes them into pieces until thou hast seen rain drops go forth from their midst. That is when He lit it on whomever He wills of His servants. That is when they rejoice at the good tidings |
| Dr Munir Munshey It is Allah Who sends the winds, which raise the clouds. He then spreads them in the sky, as He wants. He makes (the weather) dark and downcast, and eventually you see the raindrops trickling down from the clouds. He causes rain to pour down upon such of His servants, as He wants. They feel happy |
| Edward Henry Palmer God it is who sends forth the winds to stir up clouds; then He spreads them forth over the sky as he pleases; and He breaks them up and ye see the rain come forth from amongst them; and when He causes it to fall upon whom He pleases of His servants, behold they hail it with joy |

| George Sale It is God who sendeth the winds, and raiseth the clouds, and spreadeth the same in the heaven, as He pleaseth; and afterwards disperseth the same: And thou mayest see the rain issuing from the midst thereof; and when He poureth the same down on such of his servants as He pleaseth, behold, they are filled with joy |
| Maududi Allah sends the winds that stir up clouds and then He spreads them in the sky as He pleases and splits them into different fragments, whereafter you see drops of rain pouring down from them. He then causes the rain to fall on whomsoever of His servants He pleases, and lo, they rejoice at it |
