﴿يَٰبُنَيَّ أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأۡمُرۡ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَٱنۡهَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَكَۖ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ عَزۡمِ ٱلۡأُمُورِ ﴾
[لُقمَان: 17]
﴿يابني أقم الصلاة وأمر بالمعروف وانه عن المنكر واصبر على ما أصابك﴾ [لُقمَان: 17]
Dr Kamal Omar O my loving son! Establish As-Salat and enjoin virtue and prohibit from vice, and be patient on what befell you — undoubtedly that is from the stability (of the will-power) for the actions |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar O my son! Perform the formal prayer. And command that which is honorable. And prohibit that which is unlawful. And have thou patience with whatever lit on thee. Truly, that is the constancy of affairs |
Dr Munir Munshey Oh my son, establish ´salat´, enjoin the good, forbid the evil (and the vile), and bear with fortitude whatever ill afflicts you. Indeed, these are the vital and quintessential commands |

Maududi Son, establish Prayer, enjoin all that is good and forbid all that is evil, and endure with patience whatever affliction befalls you. Surely these have been emphatically enjoined |
