﴿وَإِذۡ قَالَت طَّآئِفَةٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَٰٓأَهۡلَ يَثۡرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمۡ فَٱرۡجِعُواْۚ وَيَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُ فَرِيقٞ مِّنۡهُمُ ٱلنَّبِيَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوۡرَةٞ وَمَا هِيَ بِعَوۡرَةٍۖ إِن يُرِيدُونَ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا ﴾
[الأحزَاب: 13]

And some of them advised people of the city Yathrib to defect. They said to them: "O you people of Yathrib this is not the place for you, you just go back to your homes". Another party asked the Prophet's permission if they could be excused! They said to him: "Our homes are exposed and defenseless when in fact they were not and were guarded by other Muslims but in truth they wanted to fly away and take to their heels

﴿وإذ قالت طائفة منهم ياأهل يثرب لا مقام لكم فارجعوا ويستأذن فريق﴾ [الأحزَاب: 13]

And when a group from amongst them said: “O residents of Yathrib! There is no position for you (to fight or win), therefore go back (in retreat).” And a band of them asks An-Nabi for permission (to leave the battle field). They say: 'Our houses lie unprotected and exposed,' although they lay not open and exposed. Intend they not but (only) running away (from the encounter)
