﴿فَبِظُلۡمٖ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُواْ حَرَّمۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيِّبَٰتٍ أُحِلَّتۡ لَهُمۡ وَبِصَدِّهِمۡ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ كَثِيرٗا ﴾
[النِّسَاء: 160]
﴿فبظلم من الذين هادوا حرمنا عليهم طيبات أحلت لهم وبصدهم عن سبيل﴾ [النِّسَاء: 160]
| Dr Kamal Omar And because of the transgression of those who Haadoo (became Jews and adhered to their sectarian literature), We (through these man-made books) made unlawful to them palatable items which were made lawful to them (in Allah’s Al-Kitab), and (also) for their hindering many from Allah’s Way |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar So for the injustice of those who became Jews, We forbade them what was good that was permitted to them and for their barring many from the way of God |
| Dr Munir Munshey Thus, for those who became Jews We forbade _ (as a punishment) for their wickedness _ the wholesome things that We had (earlier) made lawful for them. (This is so) because (so often) they turned away _ (and turned so many away) _ from the path of Allah |
