﴿وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٞ فَإِذَا بَرَزُواْ مِنۡ عِندِكَ بَيَّتَ طَآئِفَةٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ غَيۡرَ ٱلَّذِي تَقُولُۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَكۡتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَۖ فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا ﴾
[النِّسَاء: 81]
﴿ويقولون طاعة فإذا برزوا من عندك بيت طائفة منهم غير الذي تقول﴾ [النِّسَاء: 81]
Dr Kamal Omar And they say: “Obedience (is desirable).” But when they left from your presence, a group out of them passed night in planning against what you propagate (to them); and Allah records whatever they plan throughout night. So, disregard them and put (your) trust in Allah and sufficed Allah to be an Advocate |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And they say: Obedience! Then, when they departed from thee, a section of them spent the night planning on other than what thou hast said. And God records what they spend the night planning. So turn aside from them and put thy trust in God. And God sufficed as Trustee |
Dr Munir Munshey They say, "We are obedient!" But as they leave your presence, some of them (gather at night and) conspire to do just the opposite of what you said. Allah is recording their nightly cabals. So, let them be, and place your trust in Allah. Sufficient is Allah as a trustee |
Edward Henry Palmer They say, 'Obedience!' but when they sally forth from you, a company of them brood by night over something else than that which thou hast said; but God writes down that over which they brood. Turn then from them and rely on God, for God sufficeth for a guardian |
Farook Malik They will say: "We are at your service!" Yet when they leave you, some of them meet together secretly at night to plot against what you have said. Allah notes down all their plots. Therefore, leave them alone and put your trust in Allah. Allah is your all sufficient trustee |
George Sale They say, obedience: Yet when they go forth from thee, part of them meditate by night a matter different from what thou speakest; but God shall write down what they meditate by night: Therefore let them alone, and trust in God, for God is a sufficient protector |
Maududi They say (in your presence): ´We obey´, but when they leave your presence a party of them meets by night to plan against what you have said. Allah takes note of all their plots. So, let them alone, and put your trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient as a guardian |
