﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَسۡـَٔلُواْ عَنۡ أَشۡيَآءَ إِن تُبۡدَ لَكُمۡ تَسُؤۡكُمۡ وَإِن تَسۡـَٔلُواْ عَنۡهَا حِينَ يُنَزَّلُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ تُبۡدَ لَكُمۡ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهَاۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٞ ﴾
[المَائدة: 101]
﴿ياأيها الذين آمنوا لا تسألوا عن أشياء إن تبد لكم تسؤكم وإن﴾ [المَائدة: 101]
| Dr Kamal Omar O you who have Believed! Do not ask about the matters (which) if made plain to you may cause you trouble. But if you put up a question about it while Al-Quran is being sent (to your heart and its statements are becoming evident on you and you are appreciating its teachings and concepts), it will become evident on you. Allah has overlooked it and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar O those who believed! Ask not about things that if they are shown to you would raise anger in you. Yet if you ask about them at the time when the Quran is being sent down, they will be shown to you. God pardoned that which is past. And God is Forgiving, Forbearing |
| Dr Munir Munshey Oh you who believe! Do not ask questions about matters which, if disclosed, can only cause you hardship. And disclosed they would be, if you ask about these matters while the Qur´an is being revealed. Allah will overlook that (this time). Allah is the most Forgiving and the most Forbearing |

| Maududi Believers! Do not ask of the things which, if made manifest to you, would vex you; for, if you should ask about them while the Qur´an is being revealed, they will be made manifest to you. Allah has pardoned whatever happened in the past. He is All-Forgiving, All-Forbearing |
