Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Al-Ma’idah ayat 82 - المَائدة - Page - Juz 7

You shall find O Muhammad the most avowed enemy to those who conformed their will to Allah’s will arc the Jews and those who incorporate with Allah other deities. And you shall find that the people who have a better disposition toward those who conformed their will to Allah’s will are those who are Christians. This is because among them, there are priests and monks who fear Allah and not extravagant in their accounts of themselves nor do they entertain inordinate self-esteem

Dr Kamal Omar
Verily, you will find the harshest among men in enmity to those who have Believed, Al-Yahood and those who have set partners (to Allah). And verily, you will find the nearest in love to those who have Believed, those who said: “We are Nasaaraa.” That is because amongst them are Qisseesun and Ruhban and because they do not commit pride in arrogance
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
Truly, thou wilt find the hardest of humanity in enmity to those who believed are the Jews and those who have ascribed partners with God. And, certainly, thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection to those who believed are those who said: We are Christians. That is because among them are priests and monks and they grow not arrogant
Dr Munir Munshey
You will find that, compared to any other people, the Jews and the idolaters are definitely more hostile towards the believers. You will (also) find that for the believers, (the least hostile and) the friendliest people are those who say, "We are Christians". This is because, among them are many learned persons, monks and others who are not proud
Edward Henry Palmer
Thou wilt surely find that the strongest in enmity against those who believe are the Jews and the idolaters; and thou wilt find the nearest in love to those who believe to be those who say, 'We are Christians;' that is because there are amongst them priests and monks, and because they are not proud
Farook Malik
You will find the most violent in enmity to the believers are the Jews and the pagans (pagan Arabs); and nearest in affection to the believers are those who say: "We are Christians." That is because among them there are men that are priests and monks, who do not behave arrogantly
George Sale
Thou shalt surely find the most violent of all men in enmity against the true believers, to be the Jews, and the idolaters: And thou shalt surely find those among them to be the most inclinable to entertain friendship for the true believers, who say, we are Christians. This cometh to pass, because there are priests and monks among them; and because they are not elated with pride
Maududi
Of all men you will find the Jews and those who associate others with Allah in His divinity to be the most hostile to those who believe; and you will surely find that of ail people they who say: ´We are Christians´, are closest to feeling affection for those who believe. This is because there are worshipful priests and monks among them, and because they are not arrogant
