﴿۞ أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُواْ يَقُولُونَ لِإِخۡوَٰنِهِمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَئِنۡ أُخۡرِجۡتُمۡ لَنَخۡرُجَنَّ مَعَكُمۡ وَلَا نُطِيعُ فِيكُمۡ أَحَدًا أَبَدٗا وَإِن قُوتِلۡتُمۡ لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمۡ وَٱللَّهُ يَشۡهَدُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ ﴾
[الحَشر: 11]
﴿ألم تر إلى الذين نافقوا يقولون لإخوانهم الذين كفروا من أهل الكتاب﴾ [الحَشر: 11]
| Dr Kamal Omar Have you not seen towards those who indulged in hypocrisy? They say for their brothren who have disbelieved from among the possessors of Al-Kitab: 'Surely, if you are expelled, without a shadow of doubt we would move away alongwith you people and we will not obey about you (i.e., against you) any one, ever. And if you are subjected to Qital, surely we will come to your aid'. And Allah gives testimony: "Surely they, indeed, are liars |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Hast thou not considered those who are ones who are hypocrites? They say to their brothers—those who were ungrateful— among the People of the Book: If you were driven out, we, certainly, will go forth with you and we will never obey anyone against you ever. And if you were fought against, we will, certainly, help you. And God bears witness that they, truly, are ones who lie |
| Dr Munir Munshey Did you not observe the hypocrites? They say to their disbelieving friends, the people of the scriptures, "If you are banished (from town), then we too shall depart with you. We will never listen to anyone against you. We will come to your aid if war is waged upon you." Allah bears witness that they are surely the liars |

They say unto their brethren who believe not, of those who have received the scriptures, verily if ye be expelled your habitations, we will surely go forth with you; and we will not pay obedience, in your respect, unto any one for ever: And if ye be attacked, we will certainly assist you. But God is witness that they are liars |
| Maududi Did you not see the hypocrites say to their brethren, the unbelievers among the People of the Book: "If you are banished we too will go with you and will not listen to anyone concerning you; and if war is waged against you, we will come to your aid."
